ELGIN SWEEPER GIVES NEW LIFE TO HOPPERS, INTRODUCES LIFELINER SYSTEM

New hopper coating more wear resistant than stainless steel,
Makes for easier dumping and cleaning

ELGIN, Ill. (July 20, 2006) — Elgin Sweeper, the leading manufacturer of street sweepers, has introduced the LifeLiner™ hopper system, a specially designed hopper liner and  finish system that greatly improves the life, durability, and functionality of a sweeper hopper.

"Our new LifeLiner system uses a proprietary polyurethane coating that is more wear resistant than stainless steel and extremely resistant to most chemicals," reports Brian Giles, Sweeper Products Manager at Elgin Sweeper. "The liner system is incredibly durable and will stand up to the most abrasive debris—and the smooth surface finish inside the hopper is extremely smooth and slick, which makes dumping and cleanup easier."

Giles described the preparation and coating process for the LifeLiner system. "The outside of the hopper undergoes a two-part process that bakes on a zinc-rich primer and then bakes on a tough, high-gloss polyester topcoat that provides a durable and attractive finish". This special preparation of the metal allows both the inside anti-abrasion liner and outside finish to permanently bond to the steel. "Once the outside coating process is complete, a polyurethane hopper liner material developed specifically for Elgin Sweeper is applied to all inside surfaces of the hopper to protect against wear and corrosion."

The LifeLiner hopper is an option on all Elgin Sweeper machines.

"Whether the job calls for heavy debris sweeping and surface scrubbing or removal of debris from paved streets, the LifeLiner will improve the life and durability of the sweeper," Giles said. "Elgin Sweeper customers will find the LifeLiner hopper to be a superior alternative to unlined corrosion-resistant steel hoppers."
