Elgin Unveils Waterless Pelican
ELGIN, Ill. (Sept. 17, 2002) — Elgin Sweeper has rolled out the latest model in its fleet of street sweeping machines with the debut of the waterless Pelican. The first waterless dust control sweeper in Elgin's 88-year history, the new Pelican came off the assembly line last month. Elgin has begun customer demonstrations and is now accepting orders.
The waterless Pelican continues the line of the world's most popular three-wheel sweeper. It maintains all the popular features and sweep quality that has made it the best-selling sweeper while offering dustless, waterless, all-temperature sweeping. The 100-horsepower three-wheel sweeper meets all California fugitive dust control standards (Rule 1186, PM-10) in water and waterless dust control modes.
"The new vehicle reinforces Elgin's role as the leader in mechanical sweepers," said Product Manager Brian Giles. "We have addressed the need for water conservation across the country with a machine that we believe will prove to be more efficient and more effective in sweeping streets and roadways. Elgin has listened to our customers and we know they will be happy with the results."
The waterless Pelican makes its public debut September 23 at the American Public Works Association (APWA) trade show in Kansas City, Kan.
