Elgin Sweeper Expands Features with Introduction of FleetMinder
ELGIN, Ill. (Sept. 26, 2002) — Elgin Sweeper is taking the next step in ensuring customers receive the most out of their vehicles with the introduction of FleetMinder on its line of equipment. FleetMinder will allow municipalities and contractors to better track their vehicles' use and effectiveness via satellite technology. It provides accurate records of machine activity, improves fleet cost management and vehicle productivity.
Federal Signal Corporation, Elgin's parent company, has partnered with FleetBoss Global Positioning Solutions, Inc. of Orlando, Fla., in developing this latest feature for its products. Installed as original equipment in new Elgin sweepers, the vehicle management systems will be available as a standard factory option. Previously manufactured Elgin equipment can be retrofitted to include the new fleet management systems beginning in October.
"FleetMinder is the first system to incorporate fully automated GPS and mapping capabilities to monitor and record sweeping system components and their functions," said Brian Giles, Elgin Sweeper product manager. "The system is so advanced, it captures time and location of all sweeping events and can even track where each debris load is ultimately dumped."
The GPS system relies on precise, controlled orbiting Navstar satellites. It functions 24 hours a day, seven days a week under all weather conditions.
Since 1914, Elgin Sweeper Company has offered the most comprehensive selection of street sweepers available.
